NAGISA nang husto ang mga ‘host’ ng Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI) sa pagdinig ng Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso na humantong pa sa pagpapakulong sa kanila.

Tinawag ni Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel ang SMNI bilang “serial harasser” at “irresponsible network”.

Ginisa sa House committee on legislative franchises si dating National Task Forces-End Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) spokesperson Lorraine Badoy ukol sa mga alegasyon nito sa iba’t ibang tao sa kanilang programang Laban Kasama ang Bayan kung saan co-host nito si Jeffrey Celiz.

“It seems that SMNI has a pattern of harassing individuals and entities using false information. I sincerely believe that SMNI is being used as a tool to spread false information with regard to attacking, maligning, destroying the reputation of certain individuals and entities,” ani Pimentel.

Tinukoy ng mambabatas ang mga kasong isinampa ng iba’t ibang grupo at indibidwal hindi lamang sa mga korte kundi maging sa Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) at National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

Isa sa mga kinalkal at tinanong ni Pimentel kung may ebidensya si Badoy ukol sa alegasyon nito na may alyansa sina dating Vice President Leni Robredo at mga komunistang grupo. Ani Badoy, bahagi ito ng kanyang official duty bilang hepe ng strategic communications cluster ng NTF-ELCAC.

Dahil dito, inatasan ng komite na pinamumunuan ni Paranaque Rep. Gus Tambunting na magsumite si Badoy ng kanyang ebidensya laban kay Robredo at maging sa alegasyong inilabas ng mga ito sa kanyang programa na may P1.8 billion travel expenses si House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

“Makikita talaga natin SMNI is not a responsible network. In this case, makikita talaga natin SMNI is not doing that, but rather SMNI is being used as a platform to malign, to destroy, sisiraan ang isang tao, isang entity, which is a clear violation of Section 4 responsibility to the public,” paliwanag ni Pimentel.

“I hope na nakikita po ng committee itong mga kasalanan ng SMNI, itong mga infractions nila. It is within our power to approve, to amend or to revoke or to repeal any franchise holder na nakikita natin who is not in compliance with the provisions in their franchise,” dagdag pa ng mambabatas.

HUNGER STRIKE

Samantala, nag-hunger strike sina Badoy at Celiz habang nasa kustodiya ng House Sgt-at-Arms bilang protesta sa kanilang sinapit.

“And so today, I am joining Ka Eric in a hunger strike to protest yesterday’s travesty that was a direct offshoot of the infiltration of the CPP NPA NDF inside Congress and to also hold those in power accountable to the Filipino people,” ani Badoy sa inilabas na statement sa House Media.
